This is a composite of essays from higher education and race equality experts, focused on the representation and achievement of Black and minority ethnic (BME) students in the UK Universities.

In this collection of papers, the authors addressed the link between race equality and widening participation. They highlighted participation is about more than gaining entry to an institution but also progression while there. They also noted that different institutions have very different patterns of success in widening participation for under-represented minority ethnic groups.
