For this report, Brixton was used as the main focus due to the fact it had a large Black population. The Brixton Riots in 1995 heightened awareness of key issues affecting young black men, both locally and nationally.

The main body of this report was written by Angela Haynes. She conducted a small number of interviews and focus group discussion with young men in Brixton in January and February 1996.
