On 20 July 2011, The chief executives of Locality and the Refugee and Migrant Forum; Steve Wyler and Rita Chadha joined Runnymede for a webinar to launch Runnymede's Fair's Fair film examining race equality in the big society.
TheThe Big Society has become one of the most discussed topics in contemporary political debate. Yet the terms and limits of this debate remain nebulous and ill-defined. We wanted to discuss what the big society means to minority groups in Britain with two people who are on the frontlines of community organisation and race equality.
Steve Wyler is the chief executive of Locality and former director of of the Development Trusts Association. In February 2011 Locality secured the contract to provide training for the Government's community organisers. Steve has been working in the community development and voluntary sector for 20 years.
Rita Chadha is the chief executive of the Refugee And Migrant Forum East London. RAMFEL has been defending the rights of refugee and migrant groups in East London since the 1990s. They provide english classes, representation and advice across the capital and beyond.
