In July 2016, Runnymede published the 2016 report of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to the UK government's examination by CERD, the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD).
Read the NGO shadow report.
The UK submitted its report in March 2015 and the Committee examine it 2-5 August 2016. At this hearing, the UK Government was asked a series of questions by the Committee after which it was expected to make concluding observations to the government, which would address these in its race equality policies until the next submission in 2021.
The shadow report for 2016 had been drafted by Runnymede, drawing on responses to the call for evidence, as well as consultation with NGOs across the country (through the organisation of meetings in Cardiff, Glasgow, London and Manchester).
