This is Where I Live
Throughout 2003 and 2004 Runnymede worked with groups of young people across the UK to find out their views on the past, present and future of multi-ethnic Britain. Using the arts to stimulate discussion, the various projects have produced a high standard of work and a real contribution to policy debates.
This is Where I Live Virtual Exhibition
In January 2005 we launched a Virtual Exhibition and Teaching Resource. Aimed at the 11-18 age group, it is available free of charge to schools and youth groups who are looking for resources to stimulate discussion and for ideas for future projects and activities that will enable young people to express their views about their heritage, sense of belonging, racisms and identities. The virtual exhibition is in CD-ROM format and can be used as a series of short films as part of lessons or activities.
If you work with young people and would like to order a free copy of the CD-Rom please download and return the order form (NB a small charge will be made for post and packaging).Click here to download a TIWIL order form in pdf format.
To support teachers and others working with young people we have produced guidance notes and activities for teachers. These will be particularly useful for Citizenship teaching in KS3 and KS4.
To find out more about the project and chart its development, please click on the links below which report on progress. At the launch of the Virtual Exhibition one of the contributors, Courtney O'Shea (12) shared his aspiration for the project with an audience of policymakers including Charles Clarke, then Home Secretary;
I hope that adults will listen to what the young people in society have got to say. Not just listen but also put their thoughts into actions, and respect everyone
