Europe
We aim to build on this significant European policy and race equality work through the development of a new European programme “Participation in a multi-ethnic Europe”. The programme will have the following objectives:
1) Bring together current European work and projects that Runnymede has led on or been associated with in a coherent manner;
2) Create new opportunities for its European-related work by setting up a model that will allow the development of new projects, including research projects.
Current and recent projects under Europe Programme
UK Race & Europe Network
UKREN was set up in 1996 by a group of Non-Governmental Organisations to offer information on European Union policy and legislation in the field of race equality. UKREN now has 169 member organisations and continues to provide briefing papers and organise seminars to keep its members updated on latest developments at EU level. It also acts as the official national coordinator for the European Network Against Racism (ENAR), based in Brussels. The Runnymede Trust has held the Secretariat for UKREN since its inception. European Anti-Discrimination and Diversity Training Project
Runnymede is involved in the EU-funded project “Capacity Building of Civil Society dealing with Anti-Discrimination”, which aims to provide training on European and national anti-discrimination law and policy to non-governmental organisations and trade unions across the UK. Acting as the UK partner on this project, Runnymede, together with a team of national trainers will design two seminars to take place late in 2007 and in 2008 with approximately 40 representatives of NGOs from across the UK.
