‘Duty, Duty, Duty’: Bridging Race Equality, Community Cohesion and Well-Being in Schools, Education conference

Last weeks conference held at the Institute of Education, in partnership with The Centre for Rights, Equalities and Social Justice (CRESJ), was a great success.

The conference was an opportunity for teachers, practitioners and policy-makers from schools, local authorities, voluntary and community organisations to discuss ideas and practice on the role of schools in promoting race equality, community cohesion and well-being. The conference highlighted the policies and initiatives that support the implementation of these duties and allowed for the sharing of good practice to ensure schools and services and agencies working to support children and young people challenge discrimination and promote inclusion across all school life.

The success of this event was a clear result of the engaging and informative debates and presentations delivered by all of the invited presenters and panel-members. As they become available, the presentations used on the day will be uploaded to view or download from this site.

A full conference report highlighting the key themes, questions and challenges arising from the conference will published in the Runnymede Trust's March 2009 Bulletin.
