Older People
The UK is a rapidly ageing and increasingly diverse society. The older population will, for the first time, include significant numbers of black and minority ethnic (BME) people from a wide range of backgrounds with different needs and preferences.
Our 3-year programme of research into Financial Inclusion & Older BME people is helping us understand the financial experiences and wider concerns of this growing group.
Read a short briefing of our key findings to date.
New film: Facing Financial Futures
We have just released a short film on the barriers to a decent retirement faced by Older BME people. Facing Financial Futures: Birmingham 2012 gives a voice to the participants of the deliberative assembly event we recently held with 50 people from different ethnic backgrounds.
Watch the 7-minute film to hear what people have to say about the challenges of growing older.
Latest reports
We recently published our latest research report on overseas retirement, To Stay or Not to Stay.
The report builds on the first two reports of the research programme, which we launched in the House of Lords in 2010.
