Real Histories Directory

Runnymede has responded to the requests of teachers by creating The Real Histories Directory (RHD). The RHD is an online resource tool for teachers, parents, pupils and the wider community to encourage teaching and learning about cultural diversity across the UK.

From the site, you can access information on culturally diverse toys and games, dual language bookshops, museums, libraries, performance artists and organisations providing resources on citizenship, race equality and human rights across the UK. You can also access information about events and resources in your area. You can also submit a resource that you think would be useful or details of an event that you are organising.

As well as the varied resources available in the Directory, we add, each month, a topic that's of particular interest. In 2007, the focus of the topic pages has been the commemoration of the Bicentenary of the Parliamentary Abolition of Transatlantic slavery and its legacy. We also make suggestions for using the Directory in the classroom and at home.
