Another Perspective: BME pupils in white-dominated schools and 21st century governance

The 'Them and Us' report also investigates the perspectives of teachers in schools in which the majority of students are from white British ethnicities. An overarching argument of the publication is that it may be useful to consider 'racist incidents' with a wider lens, opening up and addressing the context of these episodes rather than labelling them as isolated or ring-fenced events.

In the School Governors paper, emphasis is given not only to the role of school governor, but also to the relationship between governance and equality, specifically race equality. The report highlights that the recruitment and retention of Black and minority ethnic governors remains an issue, not least because it continues to be unclear what their numbers are nationally.
