Belonging: Message to Policy Makers
30 September 2009
The final report of the Belonging project is now available to download from the website. Belonging: Message to Policy Makers sets out to offer a policy interpretation of the discussion held by the young people and the key policy messages emerging from their films.
The Belonging project has received international recognition. Indeed, the young people, the films and associated Belonging materials are still being selected by major events and festivals:
1. In Amsterdam, at the StrangerFestival, 13 to 17 October 2009: The French film 'J'en ai deux' (I have 2 of them) has been nominated in the 'About me' category.
This means that the young film-maker, Hadjara Karamoko-Mercy, is invited to attend the festival in Amsterdam, and participate in the many workshops available during the week. It's a unique opportunity to meet with other young people from all over Europe and beyond.
2. At the UN Headquarters in New York on 28 September 09: the UN Alliance of Civilisations will screen 2 Belonging films - Circling Around, (Veronia Anandaraja, UK) and Saudade (Wilson Teixeira "Icha", PT) - during a roundtable on The Inter-ethnic City, Management and Policies for a Better Integration of Migrants.
The High-Level Roundtable on "The Inter-Ethnic City: Management and Policies for a Better Integration of Migrants" was co-organized by the Alliance of Civilizations (AoC), the Permanent Missions of Italy and of Canada to the United Nations, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
This Roundtable examined good practices and processes for better integration at the level of cities as experienced by local administrators, policymakers and other stakeholders. The event showcased practical policies and facilitate networking of representatives of municipalities and other relevant institutions while providing visibility to the issue.
