Video ART Postcards premiered at the Museum in Docklands
The Premiere Screening of Video ART Postcards took place at the Museum in Docklands on 10th November, as part of the Museum's public opening of their new permanent gallery ‘London, Sugar and Slavery'.
The 33 videos produced last Summer by young people from Newham were screened in front of a packed theatre. Some of the young film-makers who participated in the project came on the day with their friends or family, as well as the projects partners and contributors. The screening was also open to the Museum's visitors on that day.
The screening was followed by a spoken word performance by Dean Atta - whose powerful poetry touched the imagination and emotion of the audience.
In addition to the premiere screening, a selection of Video ART Postcards will be screened on a loop in the Museum foyer for the next 3 months.
We would like to thank the Museum in Docklands' Director and the Museum personnel for supporting Video ART Postcards and helping us organise the screening.
The BBC London website includes a feature on Video ART Postcards. Click here to visit the BBC London website.
