Over 200 people share ideas on how to end racism

14 October 2011

Over 200 people from across Manchester shared their ideas on how to end racism in a generation in our dedicated pop-up shop. Taking place between 7-10 October, the event saw a former Vodafone shop in Manchester Piccadilly Station converted into a temporary discussion hub.

Members of the public were invited to write their ideas on how to end racism on post-it notes, and stick them to the walls of the shop. Ideas included educating young children about racism, opening more community centres which bring together different ethnic groups, and less tolerance of casual racism.

The pop-up shop also hosted a poetry night, a discussion event on the riots, and workshops with schools and older people’s groups. The Race Equality Minister also visited the pop-up shop and took part in a discussion event with local race equality organisations.

Pictures of the event are available on our the Generation 3.0 tumblr blog.

We are holding a similar event in Croydon between 3-7 November. More information will be available shortly on the Generation 3.0 website.
