UN Call for suspension of Dale Farm evictions

The UN Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) called today for the government to stop the evictions at Dale Farm 'until culturally appropriate accommodation is identified and provided'
The Committee made its call hours before it publishes its response to the UK government's presentation on its efforts to tackle racism. It puts further pressure on the UK government to intervene to ensure that Basildon Council's proposed evictions do not leave vulnerable people homeless or drive further discrimination against Travellers who already face significant discrimination and hostility in the UK.
