Call for Papers: Conference on Migrant Civic Engagement

27 November 2009

The Living Together conference, at which award-winning political theorist and Huffington Post blogger Benjamin Barber will be speaking, has issued an immediate call for papers.

Also speaking at the event, which is jointly hosted by Runnymede and CRONEM, will be Lord Bhikhu Parekh, who chaired the Runnymede Commission of the Future of a Multi-Ethnic Britain.

The full title of the conference is Civic, Political and Cultural Engagement among Migrants, Minorities and National Populations: Multidisciplinary Perspectives and we would like to encourage the submission of abstracts that address the following themes:

  • Active engagement, interaction, expression and dissension at civic, political or cultural levels
  • The participation of young people, women, migrants and minorities
  • Different forms of engagement among adult national majority populations
  • The role of public policy in civic, political or cultural participation

If you would like to enter an abstract (max 200 words) complete the online submission form by 15 February, 2010.

If your abstract is selected, you will then be asked to submit a 2000-word paper.

Alternatively, you may want to suggest a symposium title via the online form, which asks for an abstract of 300 words.

You can find more information about the conference, including a list of all confirmed speakers, on the CRONEM website
