StopWatch
The StopWatch action group – of which Runnymede is a member - is currently seeking an intern.
StopWatch is a coalition of legal experts, academics, citizens and civil liberties campaigners. We aim to address disproportionality in stop and search, promote best practice and ensure fair, effective policing for all. For more information on StopWatch visit the website.
StopWatch will be working on a range of exciting projects in 2012. These include hosting international conferences, challenging specific powers and engaging with the elections for Police and Crime Commissioners.
The internship would be ideal for those in interested in social justice and race equality in the fields of criminal justice and social policy.
Main tasks:
- Helping to design and produce campaign materials
- Research into stop and search usage in key areas
- Analysing media in relation to stop and search
- Maintaining StopWatch website
- Helping to organise and manage events
- General administrative assistance
Skills required:
- Good general admin and organisational skills
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Some experience of quantitative research and / or criminal justice would be an advantage
- A strong commitment to race equality and social justice

Start date: Early March
Availability: 2 days per week for 8 to 10 weeks
